so you going to fire it up for some of us @ the m&G?
Lmao do you even have to ask? If I could, I'd have the sucker going during the entire car show... but that'd cost a lot of gas and/or battery power.

      • Just run it all day and put a different battery in it for the show then before you leave put your orig battery back in, or bring a small honda generator or something.

            • Well I drove Red Alert to work today! The audio is 100% completed. My dad mounted the headunit and the HVAC in my glovebox. Had to do some cutting to get them both in there, but they both fit great. I'm not 100% pleased with the HVAC's location... it's really sunk into the glovebox due to the slope, but it's still semi-accessible as long as you're parked or stopped. I definitely wouldn't try changing it while moving, but 9 times out of 10 during the summer I'll have it off anyway so no big deal. Can't wait for Saturday!

So, now all that's left is the GPS. The software arrives today before 7pm, just need to buy a GPS mouse and I'll be all set.

              • Now that it's after the M&G and I finished getting the files off of my dead hard drive, here's the progress pictures that I wouldn't post. I'm only posting these to complete the project thread.

                  • Stealing pictures from Kyle that he took at the M&G, I haven't taken pictures of the finished product in the glovebox:

The HVAC is mounted directly to a cross bar, and then the radio is mounted to the HVAC. The HVAC is really hard to adjust, I'm not going to lie. My dad and I are already working on v2 for the glovebox setup. My dad's talking about mounting the HVAC to the glovebox door so when the glovebox door opens the HVAC comes down with it, and then having the radio mounted at the top of the glovebox in a stationary position.

The headunit and HVAC being in the glovebox means I can set the HVAC before I leave and then live with it through the drive cause I can't easily change it once in the driver's seat. But, I do have full control of the radio via a small remote... so if I want to crank the headunit up even more or if I want to change the equalizer preset, pop a CD into the radio, or switch it to FM. All in all, it was the easiest solution rather than trying to wire an amp in the back of the car, run all the audio wires to it, then run the audio wires from the amp back upfront to the factory radio harness.

                    • Looks awesome man - I know both my dad and I were amazed with the final product at the M&G.

My dad was dumbfounded by the fact that your car doesn't have a V8, though.

                      You should fix that.

                          • Looking good. Looked like it was in pieces when I looked at the M&G though.

                              • Yeah, I had the bezel sitting off of the dash so people could see the motherboard and such inside. It was all together and working at the M&G.
