is there anything special I need to be aware of when switching from stock monsoon system to a aftermarket (CD player/speakers/subs) system?

I read somewhere that monsoon is a 2ohm system but if i replace all the speakers w/ aftermarket i should be fine right?

what about "theftlock"? whats up with that

Yeah theftlock is a software feature that locks the radio. That way if someone steals the radio without the vin code to look up the passcode the radio has just become a nice paperweight. Monsoon will come out with ease, You should even be able to use the same speakers, I just do not know if the amplifier in the rear pass. quarter area will still work.

I replaced the head unit on my V6 that had a Monsoon. It still works but if you're replacing the speakers too you'll want to run wires from the head unit or amps if you're using them instead of through the Monsoon wiring and amp. The amp is mounted ahead of the spare tire in the passenger side rear well. Brian has a writeup here somewhere on how to bypass the Monsoon amp and use the factory wiring still if you want to do that instead of running new wires.
