  • Speakers for the sail pannels

I have the monsoon system, so when my doors went out I put infinity kappa 67.2's in. But what do I put in the sail panels, mine are gone/on there way out. I want to keep the stock h/u.

Ok, I never got an answer on this in like 6 months, and now the speakers are shot, completely, I really need something.

you need a mid range speaker only. the sail panels are amplified as well.

Alpine makes a Midrange specific speaker (no tweeter), but its made for a little more power, im not sure on the exact wattage of the sail panel amplifiers.

you could always just buy a nice decent full range set but it obviously wont have high's.

Ive got a set of 6.5" alpine type Rs now and they sound good.
in about a month it will be cut for a set of alpine type R 6x9's, the rears will also be retro fitted for 6x9s and then ill throw the front set (type r components) and the rears on a nice 4ch. :sighs: i love cost.

I really like my infiniti's in the doors, do they make a mid range only speaker? "Basically" will any 6.5in 2ohm speaker work? If I put a 2 or 3 way in would I just only hear bass, if so couldn't I just use any multi way 2ohm speaker?

The higher the ohm, the more sound quality, 4ohm is what all high end speakers are... and is all i woudl ever run. This is why I run my sub at 2ohm instead of 1ohm and people always compliment me on how good it sounds.
BTW, go with type R coax for sails

So you can run 4ohm speaker in a 2ohm system?

correct but ohm is resistance. 4ohm is half power opposed to 2ohm.. so they will sound quieter.

get polk momo's or infinitys kappa. im doing shopping for my accord right now too. i had a polk sub and it was awsome and i had infinity reference door speakers and they were good to but im shure the kappa's would be better. so its between high end infinitys and polks for me

your never going to get much bass out of a 6.5" unless it has the proper air space behind it with an fbody its alright...they do make a 6.5" baffle made of foam that is placed behind the speaker basically making a 360* seal.. those seem to work best.

a 2way or 3way is fine, it wont matter since only mids play through the crossover.

im not sure how familiar you are with ohms but the higher the ohm's (resistance) the more power it takes; obviously.
                      http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslaw.asp

essentially a basic headunit with after market speakers and no external amps (and this also means no component sets)

-Front Doors have of course 6.5 and a tweeter each with 4ohms (because 99% of after market speakers are made 4ohm) makes 2ohm (4/2=2)

-Rear Panels Have factory Amps and just use an input, But the rear speakers in the hatch are 4" and a tweeter, so again two 4's make 2ohm.

since most high end HU's (alpine, pioneer, panasonic, etc) can handle the 2ohms. it wouldn't make much since to wire them to 8ohm since its gunna sound like balls. lol

Many Factory speakers come 4-10ohm depending on the setup, model, radios, etc.

My rear pannel doesnt have a built in amp, just a 2ohm speaker powered by the monsoon amp. And the camaro way back speakers are just a standard 4in 4ohm powered by the factory HU. Thats about the extent of my knowledge.

I am so speaker dumb, but I want my system to have a little more umph with out putting in subs and another amp.

Can someone just give me a link and tell me what to buy? I want the most bass as possible as long as im maintaining sound quality and not pushing the factory amp.

                        Plz & thx

Welp did some more searching today, there seems to be a group on ls1tech who swears by these Pioneer premier TS-M7PRS 's for the sail pannels. There are specialy designed mid-basses. I only found 1 place that carries them and they are $185 for a pair!

Anyone herd of these? Before I buy anything? Id like to get something beforeer the M & G.

What kind of polks would you get then? Do they make a speaker for this application?
