  • Anyone here have HD Radio? Do you like it?

I'm planning to buy a new receiver for my truck.
Anyone here have HD? How do you like it?
I want one that is satellite/HD radio compatable.
I found that Kenwood has a pretty good selection, as well as Alpine.
My favorite would be Pioneer, but they don't make a receiver that has both Sat. and HD radio.

    Let me know.
    Thanks,
    Brian

I don't have HD radio, but I do have Sirius, and I must say, I really like it. How many other ways can you listen to hard-core gangsta rap, bluegrass, comedy, 1960's rock and roll, and Led Zeppelin within 10 minutes of each other?! lol Only thing I don't like about Sirius is that the antenna I have is magnetic, and the roof of my Firebird is not. . . Therefore, as I was driving 55 down a dark country road, my antenna flew off, and started banging around on the back window. I thought my car was dead for a second, then I lost my radio signal. lol

      Thanks Nick,
My wife has Sirus in her car. She bought the lifetime membership.
If I get Sirus, I'll only have to pay half of what the normal monthly fee would be. So if its $12 bucks per month, I would pay $6. My wife gets it free for as long as she owns her car!
I was thinking it would be nice to have Sat. and HD, but I wasn't sure how good the HD was.
      Anyone else care to share??

I have sirius in my dd. I love the music selection it gives you. I love my drive home in the afternoon more though, if you guys ever get sirius listen to a guy called Bubba the Love Sponge his show is off the hook it's on 101 from 3-7. M-F

I would pay the $12 a month just for his show.

I just have the antenna on my rear shelf in the car I would never stick it on the outside of the car and the reception is just the same.

As for HD it's supposed to be CD quality but how many stations offer it that you listen to? The satellite quality has been very good in my car, and all the stations are CD quality sound.

I've listened to it, it's like satallite radio that is free, but there's really no difference in quality at all or anything...

I bought a JVC deck that has a built in HD tuner for my V6 Camaro. There was a $60 rebate on it when I bought it so I got it for about $140 from Crutchfield. It's the only receiver with a built in HD tuner and it's also the cheapest. It's also XM and Sirius capable. The HD has better sound quality but the range is severly limited for the HD portion. I can only get a couple HD stations at my house but I get a ton of them when I'm in GR. Commercial radio sucks so I rarely listen to it. I'm always listening to my XM. Looks like there's a $20 rebate and it's $139.99 after the rebate right now. It's a nice unit and costs less than just adding an HD tuner to any other radio out there. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...KDHDR1&tp=5684

Do they actually have the tuner or just a HD ready radio? As far as I know only the JVC that I have has a built in tuner. All other brands require a $100-$250 external tuner box add on for them to receive HD.
