  • Need Car Security discussion!

So I am looking for a high quality car security system. One that does not involve shotgun shells. There is a viper dealer in town as well as a Fusion dealer. But I want a system that will work best with ttops. I know it is possible to set up motion sensors around your windows but which systems will let me do this? It would also be nice to have a remote with a GUI on it so I can see and hear the prick coming before he hurts my baby. Then I can make thorough use of those shotgun shells!

I got mine off ebay by asian wolf. Works great. The sensitivity is really good, when it's cranked all the way up it can go off if someone so much as pokes the car. I love it, has an LCD pager too.

I would recommend a Viper, because my dad's old Grand Am had one. I have a cheap Autozone one on my car, and I am really pleased with it considering I only paid like $30 for it and installed it myself. . . lol I need to get a real alarm. . .

How much does something like that cost? i also need a new security system, and with no power windows or door locks, I need extra beefy security! Any suggestions? I would also be interested in a motion sensor setup.

the real question is how much money are you looking to spend on the alarm

like $150, took about two days to install, only spending a few hours on it each day... my dad and I did it in the middle of the winter, so we would work on it and then come inside and warm up, then go back outside and work on it, then come inside and warm up..

THanks for the tips. I'll do more research and get back with you. Nick I'll talk to my buddy at Music Masters again and see what he recommends. They were the ones that told me about the motion sensor system that I told you about. I am sure they can help. My idea is, if I can get it set up right, I can leave the ttops off while I am doing stuff like going to the store, while i'm inside my house, or even at a show. I am also going to find one like my gf's mom has in her explorer. That thing is intimidating as hell! When I first heard that thing it scared the crap out of me. I was louder than any alarm I'd ever heard and it had a mean bark to it.
I intend to spend some cash on this one. To me; if they get my car, whats the worth of having nice mods for it??? Im also gonna go to Johnson's Sporting Goods and look at some nice ghetto shottys! I'll keep you posted.

I think I might go with something like that. Does it have the capability to add motion sensors?

I wouldn't leave your ttops off like that, all it takes is for someone to chuck a sour container of milk into your car, sure the alarm goes off, but they're long gone after they've ruined your interior.

I don't need to worry about that, I never leave my tops out unless I don't leave sight distance of my car. . . Somebody spit into my blazer last fall one day when I left the windows down at school to run in to grab my sax. I won't even leave my windows down anymore!

I am not planning on leaving them off all day long, but if I go to a show or something and I have to take a leak It can be a pain to have to put the tops back on. I am very protective of my car, I just want the ability to step away for a few minutes. I am most concerned about someone reaching in and jacking my stuff. If they did that I could hear that alarm going off or at least the guy next to me could. Then comes the ass whooping session. Thats all I am saying. Also, if there were motion sensors if someone tried to lift my tops while they were on I would know. I've seen it happen. Those things go for like $200 a pop and are easy to jack.
Sorry if I appear paranoid but come from Chicago and have seen it all. Thanks for the tips everyone.
