  • Do I ever stop working on my car?

Just a few in progress pics. I had to stop working on the headliner because I ain't got the $$$ for the materials I need, so I started on this, since I had everything sitting around. Some of you will remember from various get togethers or pics that I had done the !wire mod awhile ago, which resulted in a bunch of screw holes and a rust section where the positive wire terminal was. So, I've been filling and sanding and filling and sanding. In between letting the filler dry, I've been doing some wetsanding of my AC condensor and the lines that go to it. You can see in a few of the pics, the top line is all nice and shiny and obviously the one I spent the most time on thus far because it was the easiest to work on. Now I just need some metal polish to really make it shine!

lol yeah i didn't understand that, but s'all good. the rust isn't bad, it was jus tthat one spot where the battery terminal is. most of that filler is from the screw holes.

i wasnt sayin that you had a lot of rust i was just saying that i hardly have any. and when i saw your car at the meet it only looked like surface rust anyway.

i just looked back at my first post and it kinda sounded like i said your car had a lot of rust, thats not what i ment......just wanted to clear that up.

oh and heres a picture to show you what im talkin about.

that should look good when its done, looks like youve been going at some of those AC lines with aluminum polish too... ive always wanted to get a dremel for that.

actually all I've done is wetsand in those pictures. The top one being a tube like that was just uber easy to wetsand. I bought some mag & aluminum polish today, tried out a bit of it and man does it shine! But yeah, Chad, remove your positive terminal and see how much rust you have. That's a classic spot for water to get under and then sit and rust. Mine was all surface rust tho, sanded it off bondoed over and s'all good. I'm almost ready for primer already.

Well, I got a lot of polishing to do still, but considering I'm doing this while these pieces are in the car, I'm pretty excited with the results thus far. Here's some pics, and let me warn you, I've definitely been bitten by the polishing bug. I want to polish like everything now. Check it out.

Well, stupid me went and got higher grit sandpaper because I figured "if I sand it down again and then go all the way to 2000, it'll look even better!" Well, I went to repolish it and it didn't work that well. The headliner is done with the fiberglassing, i just have to get some bondo-glass to cover the whole thing and smooth it out.
