  • Discussion about painting My Z/28

Well basically, my Z is getting a bit old. For the most part there is nothing mechanically wrong with it, the interior is mint, and I will be using it as my ride up at MSU next year.

The car is a 10 foot car atm, from 10 feet away it looks good but when you get close.... nope!

Basically, the body is trash. The paint has spider webbing in places, numerous chips and small scratches, it had some poor touchup attempts, etc. Both 1/4 panels need to be straightened and some miscellaneous body work here and there.

I am planning on doing this all myself. I will paint it black with ppg stuff. I am confident i can do the paint work myself fairly well but I am a little concerned with my 1/4 panels. Does anyone have any advice on repairing these or know any good places that could do it for a good price? One has a minor ding in it, the other has a huge crease in it (it is realatively straight and bondoed over now but when I clean it up it is gonna be wavy), it needs new metal in place of the old. Anyone got a junker or some 1/4 panels laying around?

Anyone know how much A gallon of black paint and a gallon of clear with the reducer and hardener will cost me from ppg or dupont?

I have all the tools and accessories to do a pretty good job.

Also, I think ill probably get a different hood. Most likely a small cowl or ss hood.
