  • What grille for my 02 Z28?

I'm looking for opinions and info.
One thing I hate about my car is the black OE grille, and I finally decided to do something about it. I definitely don't want a billet/tube style or a screen/mesh type. These are the three brands I've seen so far...
    Wings West
    SLP
    RKSport

It looks like the WW grille is no longer being made. I like the smooth front. But, it may be hard to find, and it requires paint.
The SLP looks like it comes with a red bowtie, which would be OK.
The RK grille has a large RK logo on front, which doesn't thrill me. RK also has a carbon fiber version (w/ logo).

Another option would be to just pull the grille, but I'd HAVE to fill in & paint the pockets.

Does anybody know of any other replacement grilles?
Do you have any experience with any of these?
    Which do you prefer?

I like the SLP grill myself, could be because I have the SS grill on my SS. The only thing about the SLP grill is you need to drill about 8 holes to mount it. The early SLP bowtie grill just used tape but they changed the mounting to the same as the SS.

i'm gonna paint mine this summer, and put some nice filler letters in it, i've looked at all the grille's and i like the design of the stock one, just not the color, so i'm painting it. I'll actually probally start soon on it. won't be that bad to sand and paint, just gotta start with 220 and work your way down to 400, then high fill primer, wet sand, primer sealer then paint and clear

I don't mind the holes. So you're pretty happy with your SLP? Any regrets?

That's not too bad looking. I've seen plenty of polished ones. Would you billet your car? I really like your hood.... (maybe someday).

That's not a bad idea. You're planning to sand it smooth? That's another issue I had was the "pebble" texture. There wouldn't be anything to lose, except the grill I was going to replace anyway!

I'm happy. The only regret is not getting those holes in just the perfect spot.

I kinda got this black/red thing going; including black halos and corners, so I'm not sure if polished would look good. I do worry about getting too black, but so far I think I'm OK.

SLP or SS all the way! I'd keep whatever grill you choose black. Not a fan of colored grills at all. Just my .02 though....

yea i'm going to sand away that texture, and to make it nice and smooth use some high build primer( it fills in all the scratches and small holes) then wet sand that until it's nice and smooth like the rest of the car
