  • Interior Cleaning!

Ok guys, i've done enough EXterior cleaning last year to know my own. But this winter has taken a hit on my INterior. I was wondering what you guys do to give your interior an overhauling, like....

Cleaning my leather/getting all the dust and dirt off
    Cleaning the dash
    Cleaning the carpets
    Windows

What do you guys use? i never hear much about interior products. Maybe some tips and tricks you guys use? Maybe some sites? Once it starts to get a bit warmer this is going to be my first goal!

You are living on the edge using armorall for your dash and interior. That stuff makes dashes crack under extreme sunlight. Not the best stuff for interiors, good for tire shine, but keep out of interior.

I use Meguiars interior detailer spray as well as wipes. Also use meguiars leather wipes. Whatever carpet cleaner we have in the house I use for stains in carpet.

The 1 car wash in Port Huron had some alchol wipes for cleaning the windows. Works great. I've always used Armor-All wipes. So I guess I better stop using it.

you might not have a choice you will probably have to keep using it, because the chalkiness doesent show up untill the armorall wears off or is taken off.

Hi Tech Industries "Extra Foamy Interior Cleaner" for everything from the headliner down to the carpet. i get it from my suppliers, it's not available at autoparts stores, maybe see if they have a site, it's like $40 for a case of it or something like that. get a little 1" paint brust and a fine detailing brush (like a tooth brush basically) for the fine cracks. then with an air compressor with a blow gun attachment, blow the cracks out, blow all the old change and french fries from between and under your seats....

for the carpets i either use foamy and scrub them (if it's light) if it's a nasty ass car i use the steam cleaner at my work.

I have my cars in Texas & Oklahoma for most of my life, which the sun and the heat is a lot more extreme than Michigan. I've tried Megiuars before and it's okay, but my dad has a 26 year old Mercedes in Texas that doesn't have a cracked dash that has Armorall off and on. So I guess I have to see a mythbuster on the Armorall.

Like I've said time and time again, ArmorAll updated their formula years ago and took out all the chemicals that dried up the dash. Now they have the proper amount of oils and what not to keep the dash moist without drying it out.

That said, I use Meguiar's Natural Shine for ... everything. It just works well on everything.

                          ????

I have done this and never had a problem. It is a pretty common trick that people recommend on detailing sites as well as paper towel tends to leave stuff behind.

Always have used newspaper, you wet it down slightly with the spray, it's not rough at all.

Yeah, i'll back Travis on the newspaper, it works very well for glass, you just crumple it all up in a ball and then use it, however you have to keep changing sides because it gets wet quickly.....i personally just use "Glass Towels" that i get from my supplier that have a specific weave to them that they don't streak at all and work very well.

i would not use the newspaper on windows that have tint on them (factory tint ok, but not aftermarket tint as the tint is a plastic film and that could possibly get scratched from the newspaper, plain glass will not scratch)
