LT1 Firebird Headlight mod?

Alright I am gonna fill you guys in on part of my plan...

I intend to do this mod to my bird but I want to know if it will look alright with the V6 bumper and non ram air hood. If someone could pull off a photoshop for me it would be great. I am sick of dealing with the expensive headlights on my bird and figure I can get some money out of selling them for this mod. Let me know what you think. I am still trying to figure out my game plan for the rest of the car. I am thinking of doing a Firehawk clone.

Regardless, those are $1099! Not to mention it takes a lot of work to pull that off and have it look nice.

The popup headlights sell on Ebay for like $300 a piece with motors (used). I can sell mine for roughly $600 and if I can get them to sell for $1000, then all I need is $400. I am having the car repainted in April anyway and I have a good body shop who do the work very reasonably.

I've seen it done tastefully only a few times, the rest of the time (like on that car) the lense just looks out of place. Maybe if the lense were tinted slightly? There was a car that was yellow and black, it looked cool on there. There was another car that was red and black, and that looked cool. I think you need some supporting modifications, appearance wise, to even out the look.


Edit: Looking more at it, if you did "eyelids" to it, so the clear lense part didn't start so high up, that might change the look drastically and make it look good.

No offense or anything, but that sounds like quite the shot in the dark... I couldnt even see paying $400 for those things.

Yea thats what makes the bird unique is the headlights, i don't see why people want to change them?

im gonna go with what brian said, if they didnt go so high up it would look better. i wouldnt do it to my car, but i dont think its disgusting. itd be cool to see someone around with it

I think they're pretty badass lookin. Those are actually flat all the way across. I thought the ones had seen humped up around the actual lights so that they shined over the nose. If Fiero popup lights are going for close to those prices I better sell the ones I have in my basement! All you need to do to fix the Firebird(and Fiero since they're the same) motors is replace the plastic crap gears with the brass or derlin gears that a few people sell. I haven't heard of anyone having problems once they upgrade the gears to something other than the factory plastic crap.

Yeah, that's the difference... I think a lot of people don't like it because of how high up it goes.
