  • Painting and Detailing for Autorama

Well, since my car is going to be in the WMCC display at Autorama I figured I better get busy cleaning and painting things on the car. Started out to just paint the calipers today and wound up blowing the whole drivers side apart and painting the spindle, hub, caliper mount and the rotor. I also had to replace the defective information label on my airbox and decided to paint the SLP and Blackwing in silver. I've got a lot more to do so I'll update the pics as I get things done. I didn't take any before pictures. I'll remember to when I tear the passenger side apart this week.

People that said they'd have their cars in at the November club meeting are Dennis and Ronnie's 98 SS and 85 IROC, Ray's 73 Z28, Dino's 67, Alan Jr's Z28, Dave and Gay's 86 IROC, and possibly Randy Martin's Aloha Bobby and Rose tribute 68 Camaro.

Join up! I think there's still room for 2 or 3 more cars in our display area. I know they were looking for 10 cars.

Not sure if the club has to pay anything extra but each car costs $50 to enter which includes a year's membership to ISCA. The actual entrance fee if you're already an ISCA member is $15 from what it looked like on the registration sheet.

I'm not the only one painting something. Not only am I going to paint my Calipers, but I just got done painting my heatshield (the one between the exhaust and gas tank). I painted it gloss black cuz it was getting rusty. I also polished up the exhaust tonight. I am going to paint the rearend probably Tuesday with some POR-15. I was successful at getting all of the dirt/grime off of the whole underbody (did that last week). Eventually I will have the whole underbody resprayed because the owner before me decided to drive it in the winter (at least once). I got alot of work to do yet.

I hate the gray primer/black overspray look from the factory on my car. If I ever repaint the car I'll think about painting it then. I've got a ton of clean/polish/detail work to do after I'm done with the painting!

Umm...West Michigan Camaro Club. We have our own forum here and a lot of the members here have WMCC in front of their names. This is the Grand Rapids Autorama, not the Detroit one. I'll be at Detroit but only as a spectator.
