you can't buy carbon fiber twill off ebay, enough of the material to do your interior pieces is a couple hundred dollars.It's carbon colored material, you sound like a ricer with nawwws.(i'll see if there is anything online with the real stuff, and costs)

USComposites sells real carbon fiber, they aren't as expensive anymore as they used to be. USComposite's price is the same as what I'm getting it at, if not a little cheaper.

a ton of companies claim to sell it, but there is a patent on the material owned by I think dupont, the process to make it work requires high pressure, and a vaccuum.I've seen places swear it's real, and it's a sticker, the stuff they list is a cosmetic carbon fiber look(I just checked the site)

yea you need to vacuum seal it and do a bunch a crap to the real stuff. I have seen some car shows where they are making carbon fiber pieces for dashes and stuff. But then again maybe since he is covering the original things instead of making all new then the vacuum seal and other stages don't matter. Those could be just for making pieces by themself.

from what the show on the discovery channel said, it it's not done in teh vaccuum the stuff seperates, and the carbon turns to graphite (it gets hot)

Vacuum bagging is done with this exact material, I think you guys are just getting the different ways of doing this confused.. Vacuum bagging is the more professional way to do it... I'm doing it the cheap, inexpensive way (spray adhesive to hold it to the piece and then brushing the resin on). Vacuum bagging and/or baking it just makes it stronger and it's more generally used with molds and stuff like that from what I've read on carbon fiber.

Probably the red shifter plate that you can see in the second pic.. my dad's all gun-ho giving me all these suggestions of things to cover, but I don't know how much I want to do before considering it overkill. I was thinking about maybe doing the airvents on the driverside gauge surround panel too (the football shaped piece) and then I dunno what else. Truthfully, if I get really good at this in the next few practice runs, I'd love to purchase enough to cover the tail panel that says "Camaro" on it and make it a truely custom "berger" panel.
