  • Need your opinions on what looks like hail damage

Whats up guys, need your opinion. I have what appears like hail damage on both rear quarters of my TA. I have approx. 15 dings on both rear quarters combined. My question is would I be better off just getting the rear quarters fixed at a body shop and painted or would going to paintless dent dr. be the way to go? I'm not sure what the prices for the dent dr's are but what are your thoughts? Thanks!

Personally I would have to see the dents. Some of them the dent guys cant get out, or make 100 %.

Really hard to say. There are so many different techniques to PDR like glue pulling, rod & reflector, hammer and dolly, etc. I really don't know what would work best for f-body rear quarters.

      I'd guess $150-200 per panel.

Thanks guys, I'll try and take a pic later today to see if I can show you what I'm talking about. Somethimes its difficult to get a good shot to show the imperfections with the silver paint.

Depending on how bad it is, you may be able to skim coat it

Depends on how bad they are, where they're located, and how picky you are. Some dents can't be removed even by the best PDR guys. And regardless how they do it, you'll probably always be able to see where the repair was completed.

Side note: Is it hail damage or acorns? I've had several people complain about the acorns this year.

Thanks for the reply guys, Im not too, too picky but would like to get most of them out. As far as it being acorns or hail I'm not sure as I purchased the car like that. Like I said in my previous post Ill try and get a pic to try and show you guys the extent of the damage.

What is your question? Better off from a $ perspective or results?
Are you making a claim with insurance?

Most PDR guys Charge $75 for the first dent and $25/each for each additional. At 15 dents that $425.

What color is your car? If body work was done to you might have to blend the hatch/trunk or doors for a proper match.. So repairing and repainting two quarter panels could get expensive.

Can't or shouldn't be making a claim on damage that was there prior to buying the vehicle.

This job would be out of pocket no insurance. My question is more money wise, the dings are more like 9 and are not really bad enough for body work (bondo/repaint) we'll in my opinion. The car is silver by the way, and tried to take pics but it's very difficult to get a good angle to show the dings.

Sorry I got the impression it happened recently.

Silver is a very hard color to match.

If I were in your shoes and wanted to make an improvement I would have an experienced PDR do what he can and live with any thing the he/she can not fix.

I agree with Brian I'd probably give PDR a try. A good PDR should be able to get what I can see out. Being a silver car it'll be very forgiving in being able to see they're repair work.

Yeah that's probably what I'm going to do. Does anyone know a PDR around the downriver area??
Thanks fellas for your opinions and insights!
