  • leather seat repair?

I am picking up a set of seats today, ebony leather. The drivers seat is ripped in 2 places. I would like to have it repaired. Anyone know of a place that does this kind of work?

They were supposed to be. The guy called me today with some story about how his boss suddenly wants those parts for a customers car. Funny, his boss doesn't need any of the other parts he has for sale, or the ones he sold already, just the ones I was supposed to pick up tomorrow. Odd they are still in his listings too. Hmmmm.
So now I have a set of seats with no door panels to match. Sorry, I gotta call douche bag on that one. Some people have no use for personal integrity, or strength of character. We struck a deal now you wanna back out. Douche move.
I 'll tell you something else. His package price for the seats and door panels was $450.00. He offered the seats alone to 2 other guys for $400.00. So, that sets a value on the door panels @ $50.00. Those are his prices, he put them out there. Neither of those gents took advantage of the offer on the seats. I offered him $400.00 for seats and panels after they said no thanks, his add says to make him offers, so I did. He tells me he just sold them to a guy on Craigs list for $350.00! So when I inquired about purchasing the door panels he tells me he wants $100.00... I should have walked away at that point.
He'll give a total stranger from Craigs list a $50.00 break, but guys that belong to the same forum he wont budge an inch for. He wouldnt give the other guys a $50.00 break on the seats. He told them $400.00. Not only that he wanted to over charge me to make up the difference on the deal he gave the other guy.

Ok. Thats enough of that. I won't waste anymore time on this. I will likely put these seats up for sale as they are tainted now.

EDIT: I forgot to quote Gasman.

I have to admit I laughed a little at the image in my head, a raccoon living like a rockstar on his own private yacht. Then suddenly....evicted! lol
good to know they do good work. How was the pricing?

When I needed to fix my drivers lower seat I bought a new (used) cover on eBay. Very easy to change and MUCH cheaper than an upholstery shop. I bought a passenger side piece because they are more readily available (cheaper) and just had to make a small cut for the power seat controls

Thats a good point. The seat bottoms are the same, left to right, right to left. The backs, due to the tilt up release lever, and the seat belt, shoulder strap guide are not. I normally will use a passenger side seat bottom foam to rebuild the drivers seat. Works great.
I will have to go look on fleabay for leather parts, thanks for the tip.

Also, save the ripped pieces you take off. They might be usable to repair small spots.

Ok, I took the drivers seat to them for an estimate. 2 pieces need to be replaced. While I understand that they may be thr best trim shop in the usa. 577.00 is a bit much. I'm going to look at some other options.
I have a few other people to call. We'll see.

Seat has been dropped off. If the material is in stock, I could have it back on Tuesday. $200.00. And he is doing more than just the 2panels.

Ok party people, picked up the refurbed seat today. We were unable to match the vinyl/leather color so, I had him remove the rear panel from the seat and use that to repair the 2 areas that had holes. The rear panel doesnt match but it doesnt look bad. I am going to take the pas. side to him and he is going to put the same color on that side to so they match from the back seat.
heres a picture of the before. you can see the damage to the back, the seat bottom has a small tear in it as well. you can see 2 deep looking creases on the seat bottom, one is a hole.

heres the after. He also fixed the foam and resewed some of the stitching that was coming apart.

Tomorrow I will get a pic of the back of the seat. I forgot to before I installed it.
