  • Recommended Welders for Roll Cage?

    Hey guys,

I am planning on caging my car this year. I am planning on a 1.75''x0.120'' OD DOM (1.75" as per SCCA/NASA rules for cars over 3000lbs) cage. I plan on converting it to run in the NASA's American Iron series, or the Camaro/Mustang Challenge and any time attacks/autocrosses.

I would like to know if there are any reputable shops around the Detroit area that can do a quality job in welding the cage. Considering since this thing may be saving my life one day, I'd rather take it to a place that does quality work. Do any of you have any places that you would recommend? I'd also like to know what kind of pricing I could expect to have this done at these shops. I honestly don't mind driving 2 hours one way to get to the shop so distance is not a huge factor unless its unreasonable.

I'd prefer it be TIG welded. I would be able to do it myself, but don't have access to a TIG unless I buy one. Also curious if any of these shops stress relieve the cage/welds as well. Thanks!
Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.

For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day, you shall have a track day, a Sabbath of competing, to time the FIREBIRD; whoever does any work on it shall be put in last place.

I've never used them because I do my own, but I know people that have had them do work for them, and they have been very impressed.
