Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Hey guys,
We just got some tint for one of my T/As now...can someone tell me...is it legal to have 20% reflectivitty with 50% light transmission? The tint is Gila:Extreme Mirror Sterling Silver
Thanks,
Rob

yea I always wondered what the laws were for tint here in MI since it is different in each state. Also it seems like it is up to the cops to decide. I know people that had legal stuff from respectable tint shops get ticketed.

I got pulled over for my 35% and the cop told me MI doesnt allow any tint on the side windows. You can have whatever you want on hatch and rear windows. Cant have the windshield tinted either. However you can get away with 4" i believe of tint on the TOP part of your side windows. Below the 4", NOTHING is allowed. Hope this helps
Theres a loop hole though, If its for medical reasons (light sensitivity or something) you can have what ever the hell you want, 5% all the way around or whatever so just buddy up to your Doc and get him to write you a note.

Without a script from a doctor the front side windows and windshield can only be tinted 4" down from the top. Now most of the time if you don't go to dark they usualy let it slide. BUT you still can get a ticket for it!

you are half way right on that..... as the law goes...
all windows adjacent to the driver can not have any film on them except for the top 4 inch's (band strips so to speak) with a doctors note you can have secretary of state put on your license that you require tint because you have photosensative eyes or something to that BS of a degree....no matter what the windshield is ILLEGAL even if you have a script/doc's note....with that being said, generally people don't get hassled for the lighter tint (35% or lighter) on their side windows but some do.....i have had many many many tint tickets so far in my driving career....knock on wood i haven't been rolled in a while and this is how my car is tinted....
5% on hatch, 15% on my sides and 35% on my windshield....
tint your shit and if you get rolled...just take it off and get the ticket signed off...that's usually how it works
I had 35% on the sides and limo on the back, and I got pulled over and given a fix-it ticket. Matt's lucky because he does the tint to his car basically free (right?) but I just can't afford to pay $150 to tint my windows and then get rolled, fix it, and then pay to have the windows re-tinted.

this is true, i don't think i've ever paid for tint but it's $70 for 2 side windows at my work...with the "i know matt discount" it generally is $50 or $60 for the 2 side windows depending on what it is...and it is like $20 to strip the 2 side windows, unless you have the "i know matt discount" and i do it for free....so it's not $150 to get your sides redone...or you can strip it yourself, just peel the tint off and get the glue off with some glass cleaner and a bunch of razor blades....

I got told the same thing last night by my local law enforcement person. i have heard the doc's note thing works so soon as my health insurance kicks in my 35% is goin to 5% on the hatch and sides.
