    Anyone have a Gentek mirror?

    The people who do have one would know what I'm talking about. I wanna change the amber and green map lights in it with red leds but I don't even know if it's possible. It looks really complicated to open it up and all. I hate having a red dome light in the back and a green and amber look in the front. Looks like crap.

    If I recall, it is a serious PITA. If it was me, I wouldn't even attempt swapping the LEDs. Way too easy to break off one of the locator/attachment pins.

    You may be able to get some red film and carefully finesse some over the LED openings.

    Or get a test mule from a junk yard and see how bad disassembly is.

    I'm pretty sure those things are designed to be a life-of-vehicle product and not to be serviced.

      Yea, I know what your talking about.They are made here in Holland.I'll check around if one is available,but I seriosly doubt it..

          Depends on which one you get...Gentex makes 'em for a variety of vehicles that you could play with.

          Wiring one into your car will be interesting, but do-able.

            We have one. Got it as a gift Ours has the auto dimming with temp/compass but no map light. Wiring was no big deal. We really like it!

                Same here! I always thought about changing the lights too but I dont want to break the thing. Got mine from a guy named Jay almost 3 years ago. He had a 30th anny Z28. Great guy, think his dad works for Gentex as he gave out a few to us over at CamaroZ28.com
