  • Been A Long Time, and NOW Lets Talk Interior Ideas

So, After almost 3 years, and zero time on any car site, i am finally getting back into my car. Since I have moved to Kansas, been busy with work and had some problems, (not to mention there isn't a whole lot of car love down here, not like back in d-town) the car barely gets out (less then 100 miles in 3 years). I have been collecting and have amassed a decent collection of interior stuff. I figure what other way to get back into it other then to jump right into it with a new interior. This means a full restore, I will not be painting anything (except a switch or two) this will be a custom wrap. Nothing to crazy color wise will probably go with a decent black and dark gray theme (haven't seen an interior like that yet, plus I want it to look stockish). Before I start this long process I thought i'd post and see what you guys can come up with. I have some ideas which i will not be sharing until I make sure I can do them, but looking for some help. Here goes nothing.

Wrapping the center console what should be done with the rear cup holder? Delete them, cut out the bottoms and re-plastic once wrapped ( wrapping inside the holders appears somewhat difficult), i'm open for ideas here.

Any cool ideas for radio controls on the steering wheel, or should i delete?

Has anybody found any cool/unique toggle/push button switches, or any different switches for that matter?

Should I delete the rear speakers in the trunk or keep them i most likely won't have speakers back there?

Any cool sayings or sketches for the switches? (window buttons, steering wheel, lights, HVAC, etc)

Any ideas on the rear seats? (Delete them, keep them, or change it up and try something new)

Any ideas on carpet? No matter what if I delete the rear seats or not. I will not be looking for standard replacement stuff, can I just buy regular carpet that is mildew resistant? If you have any other thoughts out side the box let me hear it.

HVAC vents, I am thinking of deleting them and fabricating something? (Never was a big fan and they are always open anyway)

Should I delete the rear seat belts? (If I delete the rear seats these will be gone but IF i do keep them I'm still debating if I should have them or not)

Also, any ideas on where to put the rear tweeters? I have 2 places just looking for something else.

I'm still working on the fabric and colors so I wont be starting for another few weeks but thought I'd kick the can and hope some change falls out. I probably will start another 'here goes nothing' thread when I begin the work with lots of picture encase someone else was thinking of doing this. If anybody else has any other ideas they think would be cool post her up and i may try to include it in the interior!

    Thanks guys

Fred you best use your head and come up with some ideas sir.

And ya i'm looking into a custom switch plate. I may try to get emblem pros or third shift to come up with something for all the switches.

You're starting with a Trans Am, so you're already off to a good start. Imagine if you had to start with a Camaro? Lol

What about the head liner? Wrap it with some alacantra!

I like where you're headed with the HVAC vents tho...

          Keep the rear seats

I'd make the rear cup holders deeper so they actually hold a cup that doesn't land in the back seat when you hammer it.

Haha yup already way head with a TA!

Since Alacantra is ungodly expensive, i'll pass. Not to mention that wouldn't flow with my stockish look. I've got some ideas for the headliner rolling around any who.

I like your thinking about deeper cup holders though, but that's going to be hard to accomplish. Besides there is/will be a no fluids allowed.

And I think i've already figured out the HVAC vents which should be a nice touch when complete.

Vent mod looks to be a challenge. Going to have to rethink those. Hopefully third times the charm.

Pictures won't be up till I start the other thread this was just to see if i could get any ideas. Apparently nobody has any loose change.

Also, Fred, the rear cup holders are as far down as possible.
