  • Rear End Makeover for the Red Beast

Today was the first day I had some time to work on the car for a good chunk of time, so I headed out to install the tail panel and SS spoiler I picked up from Brian at MasterWorks a few days ago.

Geting things torn down... really surprised at the amount of crap that had collected underneath the tail panel, the lamps, and the spoiler!

New tail panel painted in the Berger style.

New acrylic plastic letters installed. They are black with red outline.

Without the spoiler and without the letters, you could almost mistake it for a Chrysler!

The finished product. I just have the RS badge taped in place so I could decide if I liked it or not. I don't want to put an SS emblem there because I don't want to front anything that I can't back up. What do you guys think? Maybe I'll put it up as a poll...

        Looks great!

I like how the black tail panel ties in with the black top. The red letters look better than I thought they would as well.

Hows the spoiler fit? Did you glue it on so it can't be "permanently borrowed" easily without taking the whole hatch?

The spoiler fits great, just had to wrestle a bit with the wiring for the CHMSL.

The finish on the spoiler is fantastic, the tail panel is great, too.

The spoiler isn't glued, because you need to be able to pull it in case you ever have to service (i.e., replace) the CHMSL. But I don't think Joel knows where I live! Besides, now it's painted the wrong color for him!

Yeah, I know -- it's a broken exhaust hanger, but there's another alignment issue as well. It needs to go spend a day at Brian's auto spa or to S&K Muffler to get it back up to snuff!

Looks great Kevin you have done some good work with this car. Its going to look grade A when you are done, next on the list is that dent?

BTW if Joel wants to know where you live for the spoiler that information can be had for a price heck he could have that spoiler in his hands and still not know where you live for a little higher of a price and I bet it would be cheaper then actually buying yet another one whatcha say Joel?

If I have to replace that spoiler, I won't be able to repair that dent!

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to put the RS emblem on, but it has some grooves in it that are cryng for contrasting black striping, so I'll take care of that before I install it.
