  • License Plate Frame?

I'm thinking about making a custom license plate frame for the rear of my car. It would cover everything but the numbers and tag in the upper right corner. I'd then paint it out satin black to match th "CETA mod" I have in the rear.

Anyone know if this is legal or not? I don't need any more reasons to be pulled over...

Picture of the area as it sits...

Photoshop of what I'd like to do...

I do not know for sure, but I would assume that is illegal. I would assume that the whole plate would need to be visible, for what reason I dont know. Monday when I go to work I will ask the police chief if it is legal or not. Would you have a plastic piece covering the plate? I know those tinted ones that are sold aftermarket are in fact illegal but I think the all clear ones are not. I will ask.

        Awesome, thanks!

And nope, the face of the plate would be totally open - I'm just looking to cover up all the blue areas on top and bottom (except the tag area). The plate frames that the dealerships stick on when they sell cars pretty much do the same thing.

Nah, I know Crazy John got pulled over for his last year plus I don't want it to be shiny, just a subtle touch that no one will probably ever notice. lol

I had 1 for 2 years with no issues. But they are illegal and give an easy excuse to the police to pull you over..

Amen to that about dickhead cops. Sometimes I think that being a real dickhead is a job requirement.

Yes. I did look up the requirements and it said "to qualify to be an officer, you must either 1.) be a dickhead or 2.) have a small dick" Oakland county is even more strict if I understand correctly
