  • Any one good at tinting taillights around Lapeer???

Want my taillights blacked out and rather have someone do it who's successfully done it before.

I've done it well before, you've seen my tails before. I'm not around Lapeer, but next time I'm out that way, I can do them for you if you'd like. It's easy enough to do it yourself, just do the prep work. I used scotch brite pads to scuff the surface of the light, then hit it with a shop towel that had wax & grease remover on it, then hit it with a tack cloth. After that, spray a light coat of the tint, let it dry, then spray another light coat. Usually 2 coats is dark enough, I did 3 on mine, and it's too dark. After the 2nd coat dries, spray a coat or two of clear, let dry, wetsand with 1500 grit or higher wetsand paper to get rid of any orange peel, then wheel with a medium compound.

At least that's how I did it, and mine look great. People constantly ask me where I got my taillight covers, and don't believe that it's actually tinted.

the trick to successfully doing it is just three things:

      1) properly prep the surface by wetsanding with 2000 grit and then cleaning it with alchohol
      2) paint in a clean area and you MUST wait at least a half hour between coats to avoid cracking, not just dry to the touch.
      3) after the final coat wait 24 hours before wetsanding them smooth and then buffing.

I'd be willing to do them for ya rolo for a few bucks but im not exactly close either.

i dont think clear is necessary, isnt the stuff a mixture of glossblack and clear coat to begin with?
