I got a bug up my butt about doing this and finally started this weekend. A long time ago I pulled my head lights apart to switch out the LEDs for red LEDs in my halos thanks to a write-up on one of the boards. Worked great for a while but eventually one side went out (maybe my soldering skills arent the best, or maybe the resistor died, etc.). But the fact I had one out and they weren't that bright anyway had finally gotten to me. I bought a set of those CFL rings off some Chinese company on Ebay and they got here on Wednesday. I got the red ones and started pulling the headlights apart tonight. I'll post pics of how they look after I'm done.

All done. I'm waiting till dark to get some night shots. The CFL is such a cleaner and more complete light all around the halo than the two little LEDs at the bottom. More like a neon tube than anything. The light was a bt more pink than i liked so I sprayed them with some tranparent red model car paint before I put them in the housings. I even put the back up set I bought (in case I scrwed something up but didn't) in my fogs. Can't wait till night time.sigpic
