  • Finally got the interior out (Pics)

Well I finished pulling the interior out today, sanded down some of the excess rust and got a better look at the floor board holes. Big thanks to Nick amd Larry (93formulalt1 and 1BADAIR) for telling me about the 13mm nuts under the upper rear seat (great meeting you and Ben today btw Nick , on a side note I have no idea why the text is insisting on being BOLD, I cant fix it ).

Heres some pics so you can see what im working with :

    5-13-10 008..jpg5-13-10 005..jpg5-13-10 003..jpg5-13-10 006..jpg5-13-10 009..jpg5-13-10 002..jpg5-13-10 004..jpg5-13-10 007..jpg

The big ol' pile o' parts is what i plan on cleaning up and painting black with fusion paint, we'll see how well it comes out.

As far as the holes in the floor, I think im going to put down some fiberglass patch and then paint some rust neutralizer on both sides. Any suggestions?

Thanks! No offense meant but after seeing those pics, Im not as freaked about about having tiny holes in my floorpan, looks like in more or less the same spots where Im starting to see rust.

Whoops, Yes I did, looks like I owe you thanks as well for the advice . Sorry, I should give credit where credit is due, I trolled the old post real quick and looked for the first mention of those nuts I saw, which was nick's and not yours for some reason. But thank you very much!

Yeah, finally having a garage to work out of has made me see how neglected my Z was, I think I've done more work to her in the last 2-3 months then I have in the last 2 years. Glad to be mading some forward movement.

None taken! i am just glad to almost be completely rust free.
Which is another thing, i would think the rust would want to accumulate in the grooves around the drain holes, not where those areas?!?!?!?

Not a problem, it was great meeting you too! Thanks for the headliner, it's really going to help my car make some more progress before the Meet and Greet! I fixed your bold text issue in your post for you.

I'm probably going to pull the interior out of my car to do this same thing. . . I know there's a bit of rust on the outside of my car, I'm afraid to see what's lurking beneath the carpet. I'll be sure to post a thread about it for all to see as well.

After I sell the Bel Air parts, I think I'm going to pull the motor in the Formula, I'm planning on doing some engine work, and it would be great to get started on the body work at the same time, cleaning up the engine bay and removing rust from the common areas under the hood and under the car as well. . .

Good luck with the work, let me know if you need any help! I'd be glad to stop out for a day to help you out!

I think it's mostly from road salt coming off the shoes that gets it.
