From my understanding FM frequency only needs 6in because of the waves. AM needs like 3ft. So reception is the same. I just got a 8" for a 98-02 F Body.

x2 you can just cut your stock antenna down and put the ball on top of it. very easy to do, just havent gotten around to doing mine yet

I'm probably going to shave mine like I did on the Camaro. Looks better without an antenna, IMO. I don't listen to the radio much anyways, only when I forget to grab my ipod off my desk when I'm leaving in a hurry. I'll probably end up getting one of the ones that mounts inside the windshield.

Looks good, BTW. Much better than the stock one!
