  • Audi wanabe?

Ok, so here's the origin of where this started. From the first time I saw the new R8 I loved everything about it. But most of all those mean ass looking headlights (with the string of white LEDS around the bottom).

So this was my thought. What if I could somewhat imitate that a bit? I didn't want to do it around my headlights (figureing it would take away from the red halos) so I got some of these Autozone white LED flexable strips and ran them around the curve of the turnsignal? I'm already running LED bulbs for the turn signals so the color matchs perfectly. I will try to post pics in the next couple days but I'm about 50/50 on it. Nothing's perminate yet (have them still wired to the 9v battery they came out of the package with till I decide if it's a keeper). But I need some opnions.

    Uhm...no.

The only mental pictures I can generate are somewhere between "cheesy" and "tacky"...

I love the white LED's on the Audi's as well. Not so sure they would belong on a older F-body.

I saw an audi SUV lastnight coming home from church that had the turn signals made out of a thin strip of LED's lights like the headlights and it looked great.

I'd have to see pics to get a good idea. Those R8s are annoying as hell to be driving around on the road - those LEDs are bright and I swear the beam the LEDs give off are aimed perfectly at the height of my Trailblazer's side mirrors.

I think they are only cool if you can make them work with our body style. My friend has them on his cobalt right now which looks really sharp but I like the Halo's he had before.

Good Luck, Hope all Goes well

One of the guys on one of the Cobalt forums I'm on has managed to do it, quite nicely I must add.

Kinda hard to get decent night pics with my camera but I think these will do...

They look more blue in the pics than they are in real life (anyone whos delt with white LEDs knows this) but there they are. I'm still half and half but it's growing on me. Thoughts?

                        Is he from Dearborn Heights?

I like what it looks like. Where could I get the lights that go in the Grill?

The lights in the grill are just your normal runof the mill 4" round fog lamps but I rigged some red halos to match my head lights inside them.

However, I want to focus on the white LEDS - good? bad? Other?

I like it. something different to our limited selection of lights to put on in my opinion. too bad you couldn't shape a giant HALO around the headlight, almost like a white outline of the headlight assembly

I don't think I'd be as happy with that as this though. These LEDs are so bright thatg would distract from the red halos (which I love more anyway).
