        • OK, back online.. So here's the scoop.. Car was painted with BASF paint, Pewter metallic and Cadillac black. Everything came out great except for some fitment issues with the new drivers fender.. My painter is working with GM to get a replacement as this one just will not line up correctly.. Between the door and fender there is a 3/8" gap at the top and 1/8" at the bottom.. Next issue, I never had any bubbling of the paint on the sail panel(B pillar) with the stock paint. Once repainted looked awesome until the car saw sunlight, then instant bubbling of the paint over the entire panel. BASF paint rep is supposed to be coming to the shop today to look at the issue.. I just find it wierd I didn't have this problem with the stock paint and now I do.. I know about the TSB on the panel, but why would it start after a repaint? So, he's working to resolve the issue.. I was going to bring it home today for the weekend to work on some stuff, but with the rep coming and the rain, left it there.. Sorry, no new pics.. I haven't been in the pic mood, getting very frustrated.. I did take it for a ride last week though, shouldn't of done it, now I miss it even more.. If it's determined the panel needs to be replaced with the correct epoxy(GM used a shitty epoxy which causes the bubbling issue), the panel alone is $800, then add labor, etc...... So, will I have my car at all this summer, I'm not sure...

          • Really sorry to hear, Larry. Just keep reminding yourself that it's being done right and once done it will be able to be enjoyed for awhile.

I am, I am not mad at the painter, I know it was done right.. I watched virtually every step of the process.... Just doesn't make sense...

                  • The bubbling sometimes occurs when cleaning the surface for paint. My brother and I had a batch of cleaner that left some sort of oil etc on the surface. We painted it and it was fine for a week and then all of a sudden there were little bubbles all over the place. It does suck for sure and I hope that you get the problem resolved.

                      • Good news. BASF is standing behind their product and gave my painter some new stuff to use(primer/sealer).. They said they will work with him to resolve the issue and panel replacement will not be necessary!!!! If it isn't raining tomorrow I am going to pick it up and bring it home for a few days.. Now to get the fender issue resolved and all will be well in the world..

                        • I understand your frustrations Larry. Ms. Percy has been off the road for 2 years now getting "upgrades" as time and money allows. I should have her back possibly next week if the God(s) are in agreement. Hang in there. I am.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't this something the paint shop should of known about and prepped the area correctly?
