  • Undercarraige Cleaning

Originally was planning on using a lift, but when I went to Jeff's dad's shop, I found out he was still using the lift ( thanks for telling me before I drove over there, by the way, Jeff. ), so I rushed home and jacked the car up on the stands. No where near as clean as I would've liked, but quite frankly I got tired of being under the car lying on my back in chemical runoff, grease, oil, and water. So here's some pics... you can see the fabulous rust, and the great oil leak I have coming from the oilpan gasket and the rear seal, but whatever it's good enough for me. With the way the weather is going to be this weekend, it'll be dirty again by the time I get to Superfest.

The exterior is filthy as hell, but just took some "jacked up shots":

Look how nice and clean that black thing is going over the exhaust... Ooo and the lovely rust under the floorpan, but hey the floorpan itself is REALLY clean (it looks dusty there, but they didn't do a good job of painting the undercarraige... it didn't cover well, so you can see the primer or whatever)

Look how nice and clean the transmission pan is!!!!

Wanted to show how nice and clean the torque arm is where I cleaned it. You can practically see the line where I said "Man, screw this" and stopped cleaning it.. basically where the rust is visible is where I cleaned it off.. the exhaust is a brown color, though, no matter how hard I scrubbed it was like coated or something..

B you might do what what I did on mine and Nick's brakes. Scratch at the rust, then hit it with the rust converter spray. It will turn the ugly rust to regular black primer. Also you could go and do some rattle can work with the engine paint to clean things up. Just a few ideas. Ask Nick I am crazy overanal about cleaning when I'm cleaning. I spent about 6 hours doing my brakes and cleaning inside the wheel wells.

Ok B lemme give you a great big apology as I honestly completly forgot about the entire thing. When you called I was like "sweet he wants to come help with the cam install" I definatly feel like a complete jackass and didn't even remember until you left and then it hit me. Sorry bro, as you've seen I didn't have luck with the cam anyways and that just makes it even worse. Once my car is off you can come over and have at it if your still interested.

Yeah I admit I was a little peeved when I left wondering why you didn't just tell me when I was on my way, but s'all good, I got what I needed done and that's all that I really cared about. I'll take you up on the offer at some point though, because I'm sure I'll want the lift if I do some work under the car cleaning up the rust.
