  • Paint price ??????

I emailed the guy who is going to paint my car, well partial paint for now.. Asked him about painting the whole car, here's the email and details..

    Hello Larry,

I got your email and put a price together for you and it came to $3475. That's for quality materials. I use BASF because they have the best materials for show right now. Besides Chip Foose uses the same stuff. Plus they have a lifetime warranty on all their materials. This price will get you a job that's right below AUTORAMA. In fact some will believe it is. You will get the best paint and clearcoat around and includes wet sand and polishing plus full detail. I know its a little pricey but i guarantee we will make you happy the first time out. We wont short cut you here. Everything will be right and on point. A high caliber job!

I'm sorry I know nothing regarding paint and prices Larry. Is that a reasonable price? Is that for just a repaint of the same color you have or something different or anything special? Someday down the road (ok, prolly a few years) I'd like to get my car completely repainted and would like to know what I'm getting myself into as far as price.

Gotcha. That's why I wanna wait a couple years till the car is paid off and isn't a daily driver to get a complete repaint with show finish. Seems pretty reasonable considering what some paint jobs cost.

That's what I am thinking too.. I just called him, he does a payment plan too, so I don't have to fork all the cash in 1 shot.. 1/2 down and payments on the rest..

Damn. Now that seems like a good deal there. Is this painter local or any examples of his work to be seen?

seems like a decent price, malibu cost me 5k and that wasn't including getting it media blasted or other prep work that I did myself

that is actually a really good price if he does the quality work he is talking about. I was quoted a lot higher than that for mine, but then again I hear red paint is more expensive too usually

sounds like 2 rear ends but I know your itching to rectify the current paint problems and it is a great price IMO.

I would have to say that is a very good price. I painted my car myself and just for the PPG paint (sealer, basecoat, reducers, catalsyt) it was over $1000 in materials in 2005. That does not include any of the epoxy primers and prep work! It took me about 3 months to paint and then wet sand it and wheel it out and reassemble it. I would have to say that $3475 is a great price.
