  • Curring Paint overspray?

    kk

When I was painting my tailight panel yesterday. I got a little flat black over spray in one area (small) and clear in another. They are just the two minor spots that which I know will bug the hell out of me

Would I wet sand to get rid of it (if so what grit(s) or clay? Or any other product to use

If I was to wet sand what polish would I use to bring back the color?

Wetsand with 1200 grit, then polish it using 3m cleancut compound and finish it off with machine glaze. Both of these require a wheel though, without one i don't really know what to tell you besides use the same process but i hope you have a whole tub of elbow grease

Also just sand very little as overspray will come off fairly easy.

Well then i would think claybar would take car of it, i mean it takes imperfections out of the paint. It would be worth a try.

It depends on how thick the overspray is. Claybar is the bomb for really light overspray but it won't take off thick stuff.

Clay it. You have a dark car, so if you use some kind of thinner or adhesive remover, be careful as it will remove the clear.

If you have to wetsand use something a little higher than 1200. 1200 will still leave fine scratches after you polish, especially for beginners.

I've always used 2000 grit wet, then used Mcguire's machine glaze and topped it with eagle one wet.
