  • Need advice on gauges...in dash...gauge pod....etc

Just purchased a 5" monster tach Black face....like this

Also just got a dual gauge piller with one lunar A/F ratio gauge. What should be my last gauge. I wanted a fuel pressure gauge but no luck finding one under 200 dollars. :bang:
I was looking online and saw this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...62035411QQrdZ1

Would this be of any use for me?? Most all the gauges are something I already have in the stock speedo so no reason to have 2 of one :emb: Wish I could have a boost guage but i dn't have a turbo. :eyes:
ANy suggestions on what I should get to complete my set?
    Thanks!

ALSO If you install guages in your vents of a trans am, Do you have to block the vent somehow with something so you don't heat up the gauge if you have the heat on or vice versa...or will it be fine? Info from people who have done this and know would be great.

I wouldn't waste the time on the vacuum gauge. IMO I would go with an oil pressure gauge or water temp because it seems that most of the stock gauges don't work too well, and if you plan any mods later on it would be a nice thing to know that your stuff is working right. Just my 2 cents.

yeah I didn't know much about the vaccum gauge.

It's kinda perfect cuz i just found one oil temp and one water temp for 80 shipped that fit perfectly into the vents that i'm going to put in. I just need to find another 2 1/16th gauge to fill the other pod. Then I think i'll be set. Then i'm going to be installing this in the next month!

          WRONG WRONG WRONG. LOL

You actually have to put the key in, turn it and THEN push the button. I think it's really cool. Come on man. I live in Detroit. I know better

I had planned to do the S2000 mod at some point in the future, as for the extra gauges.. well... I never understood the purpose unless there was an engine swap.

I was planning on getting a 2 gauge pod and I was going to use:

*A/F Ratio (really pretty useless cause the narrowband O2 the ECM uses is blind as a bat)
*Trans Temp (I have a shift kit & soon stall)

Trans temp is a good one to have if you do any mods to the tranny.

thats what i was going to say... be it an auto or manual... trans temp is an important thing to have if you plan on any future mods at all, specially in an auto... besides that i dont know think of something you plan on adding for sure and just have it wired and ready to go.

I like the S2000 mod except that its named after a honda! I would go with an oil pressue or water temp gauge. Also I would not think your T/A would put out enough heat to damage a sealed mechanical gauge.

I think the gauges are electrical (pretty sure) so I don't know if they heat on full blast would hurt the guages...just being cautious. As for the Push start mod...I don't smoke so I'm defintly doing it, which means I'm going to have to hardwire my fuzz detector when i get one but I think it's really cool. As for the trans temp i'm sure thats a good idea. I think i can find one cheap too. I understand if you have a converter then it might be even more so needed but do you think an M6 will need it as well.......i mean yes i have an aftermarket clutch and such and i do tend to let loose sometimes.

I want to see an evil gauge! Not the brand, a gauge that measures EVIL!!!! Muwhahahahahhaha! or maybe a fluxd capicitor gauge. How about a blinker fluid gauge? Or a down force meter? J/k.

If you want to see some really cool gauges I like the cobalt gauges or the osiris gauges by evil. Do you ever intend to spray your car? If so you may want to consider a nitrous gauge.

P.S. Did you ever get those honeycomb tailight covers you wanted? I am still interested in your old ones.

                          I am poor college student...

I will never spray my car with nitrious!

If anything I would get a single turbo and hook up a boost gauge.

I LOVE the cobalt gauges, except i'm poor as well. I would get them if i could. LOL. They will be my next gauges. No i am still searching for lights. They are hard to find, people ask ridicioulous amounts. You ever get your centercaps?
