Hello I am looking at cleaning up an older 350 block and heads. Whats the best way to clean them? And what kind of paint can I use at home to make them look better for my rebuild/clean up? Does any one recomend any kind of paint or colors? Any help would be great Thanks Shawn

I do have a poweer washer brushes and your basic purple degreaser

I used duplicolor engine high temp enamel from Murrays / Autozone on my engine block. I thought brushing it on would look OK but definitely spray it like it's meant to be.

best way is hot tank the block and heads...
paint is over rated, once it starts peeling....give it time it will it looks tacky FAST

do it once, do it right. powder coat if anything

I presume duplicolor will work for a supercharger as well, with clear afterwards?

i don;t think they have powder coat available to withstand those types of temps. however im not sure how hot the block itself actually gets so

              DO NOT HOT TANK ALUMINUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I can stress that enough.

I would sandblast your parts (depending on application), if it's an internal part or something where the sand can be a problem if stuck in it, use glass beads. Then go on to paint or powdercoat. Make sure you let everything cure correctly.

Everything on my motor is powdercoated.

I've always had really good luck painting engine blocks with VHT after throughly cleaning them with laquer thinner.
