I would never pay $200 for tint.

I would go with 5% all around but then again, thats what I have and Ive been pulled over 3 times in the last year for it. (Have permit though)

I've tinted side windows in my vehicles for the last um.... 25, er, 30 years now. In the last 10 years, I have had the police holler at me about the side window tinting. According to them, at night when they shine their spots on you through the side windows, the tint reflects most of their spots right back at them. When you stop and think about it. You can easily see their side of the story. A suspect has a piece pointing at them, with tint, they'll likely not see it.

Its up to you, but if its me, I'd leave the side windows alone.

In about a week I'm getting my rear window tinted to 5% for a hunnerd dolla no holla.

      Cat.

we tint windows at my work (detail express) we're right in Keego Harbor on Orchard Lake Road about 2 blocks from cass lake road.

We have 5%, 15%, 35% and 50% in this one film that has a 3 year warranty...

with another film (it's a little bit different color still blackish/charcoal) we have 20% and 35%. (this film comes with a lifetime warranty) we charge $200 as well for a 2 door car. but usually my boss's cuts my friends deals. we usually charge $175 for F-Bodys anyways though (cause it's just the rear window and 2 sides)

this is my mom's old mustang that i just tinted with the newer film (lifetime warranty stuff) 35% all around.

i dunno how bad the cops are in your area. around by me (west bloomfield and keego harbor especially) the cops are pretty big dicks with tint. i have honestly had 5 tint tickets with my SS alone. something about being bright red and loud kinda get's their attention ya know. most of them were the "fix-it" tickets...but 2 were the 2 point "obstructed vision" tickets (all were dropped anyways though)

if i were you.... i'de just go with either 5% or 15% on the back, and the 15% or 35% on the sides...just my $0.02

Any darkness on your hatch window, 35% on the front but only 4" from the top, but the whole window is USUALLY fine as long as its 35%

any "adjacent windows" to the driver are not allowed to be fully tinted. only the 4 inch strip on the top that looks IMO. 35% is usually a safe bet if you don't want to get hassled with. but that's no gaurentee. as i have had just about every shade of tint on my car and have had just as many tickets. but it's all up to you. usally all you'll get is a fix it ticket. (strip it off and show a cop and that's all)
like i said it's all a big game though. my buddy had tint on his Z28 (one from my avatar) for 6 days and got rolled. and then a friend of mine has limo all the way around his blazer (sides, and over the factory 15% in the rear) and then 35% on his windshield, and he just got a ticket a few weeks ago after driving for 2 years like that!!! so it's just a matter of luck i suppose. but if you go to my work, i'm sure you'll talk to my boss and he'll give ya a good idea. i took the rest of the week off cause i have finals. haha im actually doing one right now, i'm just taking a break..... so hope that helps!

personally i would do 5% on the hatch and 35% on the sides, or just do 15% all the way around, it would look good either way.

well jake got his Z28 tinted today...15% on the hatch and 15% on the driver/passanger windows...i even took my camera to work today..and completly forgot to snap a few pics....but it looks good! dark as hell...especially since it was overcast and rainy when he got it...that usually makes any tint look BLACK....but yea maybe he'll post some pics soon of it!

DAMN! $200?? The only $200 cars are VW Bugs and some Saturns.

A third-gen is a $165 car for everything but the windshield if I took care of it.

How much would 5% on the rear window and like 45% on the front rolldowns run me? I want a professional tint job, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg if it could possibly end up having to be removed anyway. . .

I'm a professional and I agree to not even bother with "45%".

The closest values to that are 35% and 54%. The only purpose of 54% is to block 100% of UV radiation. All quality automotive tint will do this. You will never get pulled over for 54%, but most people can't even tell it's tinted.
