  • Center Sections?

Ok so i am thinking about getting a new center section for the rear. This guy has a 93-97 center section for a formula and i was wondering if this will fit on my 98 t/a? There isn't a difference btw formula and ws6 rear center panel is there?

I'm tired of having that red bird and trans am decal and want to go with just a straight black or maybe a chrome bird.

Or should i sand off the bird? the panel thats for sale is 30 shipped so i think thats reasonable isn't it?

From what I can understand of your post it sounds like your talking about a diff cover. Not a center section.

they SHOULD be the same. Clearly youd have to sand it down and put whatever you want on there. You sure wouldnt want it just to have the old bird logo and say "firebird" which I think is what the older formulas had.

That is all if your talking about the black piece in between the taillights which is how it sounds. But yea should fit just fine, people swap out the taillights all the time?

        haha I'm retarded......

Yeah just wet sand it and use a good rubbing compound followed by a polish and you will be happy with the results.

Get some rubbing/polishing compound and hit it with that. Go easy with the rubbing compound though, it might scratch if you're too liberal with it; I just used polishing compound since mine was practically all gone from sun damage. See how you like it with it black, I almost wanted to leave mine like that when I put my new decals on back there. That'd save you the 30 bucks or whatever you're thinking of spending.

yea the reason i'm looking at getting another one is cause mine is in prefect condition and i think it would be a ton of work to take that bird off. I was thinking if i could get a cheap section even if its a little rough i can always nightshade it and if i don't like it i can always put the old one back on.

It took me and Jonny 20 minutes in the middle of the night with no light to see what we were doing to sand mine off...

If you want it, I can give you a link for a guy on tech who custom paints them. I want to say I paid 85 and then sold mine for 45.. So for 40 bucks got a custom painted center section..

Ahh, well if yours is in perfect condition, DEFINITELY don't sand it off...there's guys on ls1tech who will pay good $$$ for the stock painted ones that haven't been molested by sun damage. But yeah like Concept said, it doesn't take much work at all to get it off--the paint is pretty thin.
