Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Well... it definitely did not come out how I had envisioned. When I started cutting away at the shaft, I found out the inner plastic pushrod (for you automatic guys.. the white piece) changes uhm.. a lot and basically wouldn't work if I kept cutting further down. So, now I need to get a shift boot and see how it looks. If it still looks really tall, then I'm probably going to have to get a shorter knob.. like a ball or something that'd be smaller. I don't know, definitely not a happy camper after doin this mod.
well, I just got done grinding away the steel shaft of the shifter, so stuff's a tad dusty.. I wiped it down real quick before snappin the pics, didn't do the full detail waxing the console and stuff.
Neh, it's cool. I entirely agree. I'm pretty pissed at the results, I can't do anything about it either because I literally cut the stickshift so the only way to fix this is to either get a shorter knob to make it all together look shorter, or to buy an entire new stickshift mechanism.
if you want to, try getting a leather shift boot, it will make it look a lot shorter. wHEN I got my chrome shift knob, i put it on and it looked bad, but once the boot was on, it looked a ton better.
I got mine off ebay for cheap
Imagine this without a boot, i think it would look really long

yea Ty's car looks great....Meissen..that's shitty that it came out like that...my buddy has just a plain jane stupid green malibu, and he did that same thing you did...but his shifter is like 1 or 2 inch's tall now...it's crazy...i'll ask him what he did and maybe he could steer you in the right direction!
Granted the carPC is out because of the power supply, but here's a nice "progression" slideshow...
Back when the shifter was stock height, with the adapter ontop of that, and then the really tall shift knob:
After cutting the shift stick's height down about 2-4 inches:
Shorter shift knob, improves the height a LOT! Look at the difference between the height of the knob to the carPC in these pics compared to the two above:
