Anybody run across any good suggestions for a great engine bay? Feel free to post examples that you think demonstrate your points.
I do not believe this issue has been addressed in that much detail. I think these ideas are pretty much universal to any type of car and any aspect of a car. So think like FOOSE guys!
Personally I would like to know whether it is worth it to remove the engine to have the bay painted to match the outside color (both red one being a base red and one being a pearl).
Or should I paint it satin black like many old hot rods? What would be best? Knowing the answer to these type of questions would really help a lot of people like me out in the design stages.
Here I will start with some that I find important:
1. Clean off the existing parts of all dirt, rust, etc.
2. Choose a color scheme. It seems that color schemes are best in 2-3 color sets of colors. My car is going to be 3 colors that I like and seem to mesh well. Dark red, Dark gray and blacks. The same could be said for Blues, whites, grays, and blacks. etc.
3. Keep with the color scheme throughout the car. I have run across many cars where the colors under the hood look off because they do not match the car. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, but if your car is red and black like mine, having green under the hood would look off...
4. Keep in mind different finishes on metals should also be considered when choosing colors. If you want chrome wheels, you should use chrome elsewhere on the car. If you like polished aluminum go polished. If you mix brushed aluminum with carbon fiber with painted parts with chrome you can see how disorganized it may appear.
