  • Opinions or ideas???

Since we are on the topic of cleaning and fixing up cars. I was thinking it would be nice to clean up my engine compartment. You know spruce it up! Polish this, chrome that!!! What do you think??? I know I need to wash it off and also use some of that stuff that turns rust to black primer on the rust. What else could I do??

OK... it's not bad, and at least I don't have to feel too bad about under my hood.

        Here's a dirty engine compartment.

I cleaned it up alittle since this photo. I repainted the air cleaner so that looks better. But yeah once I finish of my interior I'm gonna work on cleaning this up.

you guys def. need to clean up your bays. Just cleaning them will make a big difference without even chroming or polishing anything

yea it is a very common mod for our engine bays to polish the canister

I don't see why you couldn't. I see painted ones all the time.

please don't try the alternator. It takes forever and is a pain in the butt with all the little crefices. Takes hours with a dremel and that is just to get it somewhat smooth, then you gotta sand it and polish it all up yet after that.

yeah my dad keeps telling me to chrome my alternator, but that traps heat inside the alternator and then makes it die out quicker.

Just wash the engine bay first, then we'll get some ideas.

I was thinking about buying a new one. One that is already polished because of the difficulty of all the surfaces. The Canister / Condenser whatever it is is pretty accessible and is a simpler surface. While I am at it I am thinking about polishing the lines that extend out and go into that condenser. I was thinking about chrome valve covers. Advance Auto has Edelbrocks for the Buick 3.8 that should fit. I will work on the wiping and cleaning the engine this week.

                          What else could I do?

Could someone who is good at photoshop photochop these mods for me??? I would do it but I only have Paint and I think you all are aware of what happens when you set me loose with paint!

Hell polish the alternator, its bigger than the engine anyway, lol.

the edelbrock covers will NOT fit your car, they are for the series I grand national buick engine. There is a company that is mking covers for our car but they are rediculous in price. You could take them off and polish them.
