molding in the fascia...

Well,I been thinking of having my front and rear fascias molded into the car.

So at work today,I was mobile today,and had to go to a body shop.I do alot of work there,I been goin there for years,so I got to know the guys there.

Anyway,I was BS'n with one of the guys and I asked him what he thought about it....he said he wouldnt do it cause he could almost guarantee it will crack eventually.

And the GFX wrap around into the wheel well where it attaches,he said what would you do there?? shave down the GFX there or just fill it in,and if you did that,the wheel well at the bottoms would kinda curve toward the tire do to it being thicker there.

So,how do these people have molded in GFX?? Will it crack?? and what to do about inside the wheel well??

I really like how much cleaner they look molded in,but if its gonna be a pain in the ass and/or crack I dont want to do it.

Anyone know anyone that did it?? who knows a good body man I can talk to??

i think people use something called tiger hair when they mold stuff, i think it's supposed to be better than just bondo-glass...

my friend has a corvette...they sell 'em at his dad's dealership, they call 'em the GTR....the car is a full 6 inches wider in the rear and 3 inches wider in the front. along with fully molded in body kit. however. the way everything is molded on his car is that the guy that build's the GTR originally made all new molds and literally made new body panels. i think that might be the only way to truely gaurentee no cracking?...just my 2 cents....

Every time I see pics of that vette it makes me drool. You need to invite that kid out to woodward next time we go, I wanna check it out.
