    1. how much air pressure should you run?
    2. how do you select nossles? (I have .14 & .20)
3.the paint seems to come out thin (sprays dots) or thick & runs once it hits, i have a "Grip" gun & duplicolor ready to use paint, primer, & clear, does it take practice with the paint/air adjusters or is it just because i have cheap shit?
    4. how many approx inches do you hold the gun from the car?

    a couple tricky questions there
    1. the pressure depends on what your spraying, to get a pretty accurate guess go to ppg's website and they usually give some good ranges for each of your materials.
    2. certain nozzles are for certains materials again ppg has data sheets that can help you with this.
    3. If the paint is comming out thick or thin did you remember to stir the paint before putting it in the gun. Did you thin the paint out using the correct amount of reducer. Or it could also have something to do with air pressure. Orange peel is created due to the pressure in the line. Also one more thing, moisture or water in your compressor lines can give you a spotty paint job.
    4. I usually stay about 6-8 inches away from the car and make smooth sweeping motions. Also remember to start your spray before you get to the pannel and end the spray after the pannel. Or else you will get some nice light spots on every edge of your car.

I hope these help, i would tell you the right tip size and air pressure but i don't have my ppg sheets on me right now. Good luck. Oh and when your looking at ppg's site just look under a generic basecoat for air pressure and tip size, should run pretty much the same from base to base. Do the same thing with clear and primer.

dont try to paint your own car if you have never been taught how to paint anything, thats my advice, take a class at a community college first

        thanks for the replies

it turned out better today, i stirred the paint alot longer (its no-mixing ready to use paint) and then i figured out i was causing the runs because i ended my "stroke" to fast. it didnt run when i smoothed it out
