Guys, I've been thinking about making my car look a little more unique, and I think I would like to paint some sort of stripes on it. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to make stripes flow with the car. I was thinking I should paint the stripes Black, since that's the current theme I'm using right now, red/black. If anyone has some pics of anything that would look good, post 'em up, I'd love to see 'em!

if you want to stick with the current hood, paint "stripes" in the vent grooves that start black by the vent, but fade back to red as they go up the hood. It looks really classy when done right IMO

I wouldn't do stripes.. thats not really unique at all. I'd tint the windows first.. Get a catback exhaust thats high end instead of the original flowmaster setup. Paint the mirrors black? I donno.. try some stuff out dude!Last edited by shawnc16; April 20th, 2008, 08:25 PM.-08 G8 GT DD: Rotofab CAI, HID's, Breyton Race GTS'

Stripes are hard with these cars, especially w/ hard tops. After looking at these cars for a while hood stripes look kind of cheap. Have you considered some type of stripe down the side of the car? What about stripes like you had on your mustang?

I still love the look of the Ford GT Stripes...

Enzo or 25th anny stripe?

Bird Feathers?

What about ghost stripes or a nice set of flames?
I think you should go talk to Jeff Jenkins. He would be able to give you some suggestions. He helped out a lot with mine. I had not realized it but my paint job is very similar to the one of my die casts...

You might want to go look at some die casts for ideas...
Whatever you decide to do just make sure the stripes look logical and well thought out. I've seen stripes that start / end in weird places and destroy the look of the car. Wheneven I think about formy's I think they need a bit of a rake and some big meats. Thats how they look best.
BTW I second the idea about the tint. Dane got his car tinted for like $150 from the Truck Shop in Adrian and his car looks great especially with the new paint color.Last edited by phoenix_rising; April 20th, 2008, 09:37 PM.

I was thinking about the upper half of the car being black, but I wanted to make the car flow a little better, you know? And, BTW, I have lowered it already. . .Originally posted by shawnc16 View PostTake a few styling ideas off the Camaro. The upper half off the car being black, black mirrors. Lower it!
I think I like Joel's idea best, but I don't know how I'd tie the stripes into the back end. . . Maybe fade from the front of the car to the rear of the car, instead of fading from the front of the hood to the back of the hood. I'll draw up some ideas and let you know.
Keep the suggestions coming!Nick H.

Actually, I like the idea of the "Enzo" style stripe down the center, getting wider from front to back, and also the stripes down the side like on the Ford GT, except with "FORMULA" in the stripe. . . That could be pretty cool looking. I think it would look nice if I used the original GM Formula decal font in there. . . Anyone agree with me?Nick H.

something like Joel said with stripes that fade, similar to the 30th anniv. camaro stripes.
and if your going for "unique", everyone does honeycombs, I saw this one transam with clear tail-lights,
or i like the blackouts on my formula

My Formula has blacked out tails already. . . Here's what I've done to it appearance-wise:Originally posted by badinfluence View Postsomething like Joel said with stripes that fade, similar to the 30th anniv. camaro stripes.

- 1998 Corvette Wagon Wheels in Chrome with 275/40/ZR18 and 245/45/ZR17 Falken 452 series rubber
- Eibach Pro-Kit Drop Kit (1.5" drop)
- Blacked out Taillights and Corner Lights
- Removed Side Moldings
BTW, the ProKit needs to be installed in the rear still (already installed up front), the car already bottoms out with more than 2 people in it, I'd like to replace the shocks all around this summer, as well as do some support mods for the suspension to get the best handling out of it as well as to prevent bottoming out on bumpy roads.Nick H.
