I think they really just don't like people driving at night.

I want to get covers for my car (rear AND front), but I can't use the fronts at night.

Do you have any pictures of the car at night with the brakes on?

I've had tinted tails on every car I've had in the last 2 years. Never had a problem with visibility, particularly at night. I might wetsand them a little more, just to make the visibility less of an issue, but I've never been pulled over/ticketed for them, and I haven't been in an accident with them yet (knock on wood)

Question:Is having smoked tail light/brake covers legal in Michigan? How about the smoked ones with slashes or vents in them showing a small part of the original red lens?

    Answer:
MCL 257.686 requires a tail lamp to emit a red light plainly visible for at least 500 feet to the rear of the vehicle.

MCL 257.697 requires stop lamps to emit a red or amber light and be capable of being seen and distinguished from other lamps for a distance of 100 feet, including during normal daylight. If the cover you apply prohibits the lamp from meeting these requirements then it is unlawful.
To me, this means it must light up red, not BE red. does that sound right? Heck, I rented an 08 trailblazer and it had moerately smoked tails from the factory

Yes, tinted tallights are illegal. The law says the lenses have to be visible for a specified number of feet.

It will just hurt for an instant when that tractor-trailer runs you over some rainy night

lil off topic, but I got rearended once and I had blackout taillight covers. I was stopped way b4 the girl hit me so it was irrelavent anyway...but the cop was trying to be a dick about it and blame it on me. Luckily my 3rd brakelight wasn't blacked out so I had some defense, that and the girl was pretty cool about it being her fault and told the cop that I was stopped long b4 she hit me, so it wasn't like I hit the brakes and she couldn't see it. Then he went snoopin around inside my car and took my friend's billyclub that was sitting in the back seat.

I dont wanna do tail lights. I wanna do my rear side markers and the third brake light. Think it would give it a sleeker look.
