  • Need opinion on decal overlays

Usually I'm not a big fan of the decals, but I need something to break my car up a bit. I am blacking out my side markers so some color is needed. I printed off my C5/C6 caliper overlay to see if the bigger brakes will fit in my wheels. If they do the calipers will be powder coated a metallic red finish by specializedstainless.com

This is a picture of my center tail light section. I put this together last year without any effort. Its a 93-07 nose bird chrome overlay that I placed inside of the red outline overlay. I was surprised it fit. What do you think?

I plan on adding red TRANS AM decals above the bird, and getting polished stainless PONTIAC incerts for the rear.

Below is a picture I copied from a guy on LS1tech.com. I was thinking of doing the same thing for the door overlays. However I want to use the chrome decals where he used gray.

Any opinions? Or is that to much? If things don't work out, I can remove the decals in a heart beat, and I'm only out a small chunk of change.

I have bright red brake calipers, that's about as far as I want to take it right now.

Thanks for the compliment. I think what you did to you Camaro is really sweet. I'm sure our cars will meet again on M-222.

I'm going to start ordering the decals this weekend.

Sounds like a good plan...as for the lettering on the door. I'd leave it one color, two different colors is a lil too far. Doesn't look good.

overlays are just as cheap as a can of paint and buying double sided tape, practically at least. and they are not permanant if a person were to change their mind. also some pieces he talked about could not possibly be painted for a decent price at all. Ive had my overlays for like 2 years I believe from brent franker, still as good as the day I got them, i even did the piece between the tailights over because mine was faded partially and they have stuck perfect.

I got mine off ebay, had 'em for a good 2 years now. Haven't faded, but they are chrome so I don't see that happening. They stick fine, except the bird on the front plate cover. The corners keep peeling...that one I've replaced twice already. I think I'm goin to get the expensive one this year, whatever it is...aluminum/steel, whatever.
