Hide Wire Mod?

so i've heard of this "wire mod" where you get rid of that huge mess of wires running down the passanger side inner fender....i know a few people have done it..caugh brian caught i think?..... my question is what is involved in doing it, cause my engine bay is clean as in not dirty at all, and all the paint is there...it's just cluttered so to say from stuff like that.....does anyone have some pics of their cars with it done? or explain it a little more...like where do these wires get hidden??? I just thought this would be a cheap mod that would help clean things up a bit under my hood...im all about clean simple things that take a second look to notice!...thanks for any help/info
same picture as the one from "my garage" just so give an idear of how shiney i keep my stuff...after all i do work at a detail shop...hell i've even waxed the underside of my hood a few times lol

I know you can buy a kit from somewhere but it seems to me that you could accomplish something like this with a few handy zip ties just as long as its not seen anyways. Brian should know though, you can wait for him to chime in on this.

i didnt do it personall on my car..its was done when i bought it. Put pretty much all the wires are ran threw the fender..under the wheel liner. Definitly a cleaned up look..and not hard to do...Check out the write up over at www.installuniversity.com

Mine took me a few hours to do because my dad was getting anal about it. In any case, it's a really easy mod. Just disconnect the wires, drill a hole through the fender, run them between the bottom of the fender and the plastic wheel liner, then out the opening by the battery. Thanks for the info everyone... i think i'll do that some time when i have a spare minute or two. i think it'll certainly clean things up a bit. just wondering....with the wires running in the wheel well....aren't they a little more suseptable (spelling?) to getting messed up from "the elements?" or is that why they taped and shrinkwrapped the hell outta theirs?

The black plastic wheel well covers it, so it doesn't get exposed to anything.

Seems like a pretty sweet and easy idea, I'll probably go ahead and do that since I'll have the wheels off to paint the calipers. Cleaning up all the engine bay clutter is certaintly a concern since my car looks like ass under the hood.

looks like ass??? i don't think that word should ever be used to describe an F-body of any way shape or form!!!....now a rustang maybe?................ yeah i will do this when i have a spare minute or two. it seems easy enough, and cleans things up...im always down for simple clean changes....ALWAYS!!! that's just my style

Yeah, only bad part is that after you do it, the holes start to get to you, then you get like me, bondoing your wheel well and repainting the whole wheel well to make it look cleaner yet.

yeah that "gaping hole" lol that they show with the hole saw kinda scared me a bit.... if i do it, i know i would only cut the hole as big as i need to and use grommet material stuff to close it up even more after.... permanent stuff is always a bit scary to me

I was talking about the holes left by the screws that you remove that hold the wires in place.

That has been in the back of my mine all day but hey I'm not planning on selling this car anytime soon and it can be seen as some weight savings lol. All in all the little holes still look much nicer than those wires.

i agree.... this has been floating in my head for a while now really.... i guess i'll make up my mind when i have the 1/2 inch hole saw in my hand lol!!!

I really need to finish sanding the putty under the hood and then paint my passenger side, it's so ugly right now. I'm just afraid of all the overspray.
