Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN MICHIGAN?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Michigan, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
Windshield - Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows - Any darkness can be applied 4" inches from the top of the window. Back Side Windows - Any darkness can be used. Rear Window Any darkness can be used.
HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN MICHIGAN?
Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
Front Side Windows - Must not be more than 35% reflective. Back Side Windows - Must not be more than 35% reflective.
OTHER MICHIGAN RULES AND REGULATIONS
Restricted Colors - No colors of tint are explicitly banned. Side Mirrors - No restrictions. Certificate Requirements - Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state. Sticker Requirements - No sticker to identify legal tinting is required. Medical Exemption - State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.
Technically... you can have whatever you want as long as you don't get caught. I have both my Driver/Passenger side windows fully tinted at 35% and my back hatch fully tinted at 20%. I know other on here have darker tint all around.
I couple people, who shall remain nameless, even tinted the full windshield......kinda like running a stop sign...until you get caught...

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.
in michigan NO window ADJACENT to the driver that being the windshield, drivers window, or passanger window can be tinted. the most can be a 4" strip of 35% at the top to "block" the sun.
this of course looks tacky. i would not recommend any "do it yourself tint" it is always terrible quality and never installed right.
everything i have ever owned has been tinted, windshield and all. my SS has 5% on the hatch, 15% on the sides and 35% on the windshield. the car is DARK you can't see in at all. Murph (keego ridah) has limo (5%) all around his formula with 35% on his windshield. his car is "darker" then mine...but they both look the same really...DARK
you can either get a fix it ticket so you have to take it off and have the ticket signed, or you can get a 2 point obstructed vision ticket. i've had a lot of both of them.
my ram has 15% all around and 35% platinum on the windshield. i haven't had a problem yet. although most of the cops in my area know me now and don't bother me. all depends on the cop.
oh and Jeff. it's not exactly like running a stop sign. just about any cop will ticket you for that....not all cops bother people with tint. i used to be "paranoid" and would roll my windows down when i see a cop. now i just say **** it and pull right up next to them with the windows up so they can't see me....
Yep go dark or go home haha, 5% all the way around, 35% on the windshield, better have some good headlights otherwise your not going to be able to see sh*t
I've been tinting for a few years now, and do to liability issues I would never tint the front window. Thats a major law suit waiting to happen.
We warn our customers, the only people that get their windshield tinted are generally the people that already know that the driver/passanger window is illegal anyways... 10 years of tinting out of my shop and not a lawsuit yet. every vehicle i've ever had has the windshield along with everything else tinted....
I have 20% on my cavalier and love it. Its just right. Makes the car look soo good. I think because its a cavalier, cops dont even care. I was always scared with it, now I dont even care. I woudnt do it on a Camaro, or a v8 car. Profiling is the last thing I need. And you front windshield guys, got any pics from the inside?

i don't have any pics from the inside, but the 35% on the windshield does darken things up a bit. but you are right, profiling is a huge factor i think, i'm suprised with a bright red cavi you haven't been hassled, with my camaro, i used to get rolled all the time for tints, until the cops started to remember me and realized where i worked and just didn't give a shit anymore. my S10, Ranger and Ram...everything was/is tinted, hell i get followed by cops in my ram and they don't even look at my funny.....
one of the keego harbor cops that used to hassle me a lot doesn't even bother with me anymore, the last time he pulled me over it was in my ranger and he came up to me said "matt....i don't even care about your side windows anymore, but could ya do me a favor and just take it off the windshield?" i said sure Dan, and i pulled it off right in front of him and he started cracking up, he waves at me all the time now
I have 5% on the hatch and 15% on the Side windows of my TA and I havent got any shit for it yet. The only time I was ever worried about it is when I was getting gas on my way to work and I look over and a cop pulls up at the pump right next to me, So I get in my car and I had my Cutout open and fired it up and he looks at me and than just looks back at the pump and I figured if that didn't get him to care I shouldn't lose sleep.
