Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
the heat gun will just shrink and skew the tint that's already on the window.
take something like a paint stick and push the rubber window gromet down so it's flipped down into the door.
then just get a corner and peel all the film off.
all the glue will be left on the window (unless it's suntek tint, that shit literally takes all the glue with the film...anyways...)
spray the gluey window all down with glass cleaner.
taking the razor blade hold it firmly against the window and scrap UP. then lift and flick the wadded up glue on the ground. then repeat. LIFT up the razor when you go for another pass. don't just scrap back and forth. if you pull the razor blade backwards, it will more then likely scratch the glass. also, only scrape up or down. don't go side to side as the windows are curved and it has a good chance of scratching the windows this way as well.
when you get just about everything, you can take the glass cleaner and some rags and get the little bits remaining off with some "elbow grease"...
if that sounds too hard, just pay the $30 (or whatever your local shop charges) to take it off....it generally takes me 20-30 minutes to strip a driver/passanger window set
As someone who tints windows I have some experience in stripping and re-tinting(Only done it to my car about 8 times).
The easiest way I've found is to:
Don't bother with a heat gun or steamer, it doesn't help enough to make it worth it.
Just get a new razor blade and peel back one corner enough to get a hold of it, then pull off all the tint. It might look like its done, but there's still all of the glue left on the window usually.
Then make a 50/50 water/alcohol mix, and spray all of the glue. The alcohol reacts with the glue, softening it up(Same way I get the matrix to lay down on the BG's of camaros/TAs. spray that portion with the mix and it softens the film to get it to lay down over the dots without the white spots).
Once it has set for a min or two scrape the glue off wtih the razor. It should come off relatively easy, but there is always a few hard spots here and there. Unlike what it said before you can go any direction, forward/backward up/down left/right it doesn't matter it won't scratch the glass. As long as the blade is wet and held at an angle it won't scratch the glass.
To get below the gasket just remove the door panel and lift up the gasket. Camaros are relatively easy cars to pull panels on. I pull panels on every car I do, and if I remember right to pull the camaros there is a screw under the lock and window panel, screw by the mirror cover, and several more around the panel, then lift the panel up, do not pull out.
Then repeat the process as above for any remaining glue.
It's really very simple and not a hard thing to mess up. You have to do something completely stupid the scratch the glass. I've accidentaly pulled the razor across the glass perpendicular to it when it got caught and not scratched it.

Have fun and let me know if you get stuck.
