Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I have 4 aluminum rims that have been striped to bare metal and now need to be polished. Does anyone know of anyone on the East Side that does aluminum rim polishing for a fair price? Plus, does anyone know what one might expect to pay to have this done?

check with jeff (81daytonapacecar) - he just had his done and they look great
Jeff has his re powdercoated i believe...as far as polishing the rims. i did a set of pro-stars for a friend of mine...it took a pack of 2000 grit, a lot of metal polish, some rags/towels .... a case of beer (evenly distributed among the three of us) and a couple cigerettes!

it's really easy, just time consuming
Yeah, that's the fun way to do it...lol...any time beer can safely be included is a good thing...
I had to go a little further for mine, but I had the factory paint stripped off, then powdercoated GM-11 White, machined back .010 on the exposed aluminum areas, and repowdercoated clear on top.
Alloy Wheel Repair in Troy did it, and yes, they did a great job.
They picked them up at my work, refurb'd them in 3 days, and dropped them back off at my work for $500.
I've got the number at work if your interested. Once they're polished, it might be a good idea to powdercoat a clear over them.
Maintenance goes to practially zero. You don't even need water, just wipe them down with detailer and a cloth.

WHY THE F*CK IS THERE A GOAT ON A FERRARI?

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.
That is kind of what I thought.
These are the original factory rims on a 3rd gen that I plan to sell, so I could actually pick up a set of cheep rims that looked better, for less that it would cost to polish these up. But, this is good to know, because I really did not want to assume anything and then later find out differently. Thanks for the info all.
