Thought I'd share what our plans are for this year's color tour and invite anybody who might be interested in joining us. WMFC has teamed up with the West Michigan Pontiac Club for a joint Color Tour this year.
On the weekend of Oct 13th-14th we'll be carvanning to the Traverse City-Leelanau County area. Along the way we’ll stopping to check out the shops and scenery of the quaint, small villages-towns we'll be passing thru. From Holland to Manistee we'll be traveling mainly US-31, but once north of Manistee we'll be catching scenic M-22. M-22 has become one of the most favored scenic routes in Michigan, and is one of the many "jewels" of Northwestern Michigan.
Near Frankfort we’ll experience a gravity defying sensation of being pulled uphill, in Empire we’ll travel a section of road that was used for hill climbs (a form of road-racing popular in the late seventies), and then check out their Heritage Days Festival. (I hear they have a pretty decent car show.) From there we'll point ourselves towards Leland where we’ll tour a local restoration shop, and car collection. After our time in the Leland area we’ll head back to Glen Arbor where we’ll be staying at the Maple Lane Resort, a quiet little place on the shores of beautiful Glen Lake overlooking the famous Sleeping Bear Sand dunes.
Sunday morning we'll hang out in the Glen Arbor area, do some more sight seeing, and then head back home.
We already have 15 cars (and their owners) committed to going. Should be a great time. If your interested in tagging along for all of the cruise or even a portion of it feel free!!
