Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. Do we have a great country, or what? From the sea shore to the mountains, and from the country side to the big city. There's a lot to see here in the good old USA!

              Hi Tony,

              Thanks for the comments.

So, you were 7 years old then, right? This is the first time Anita or myself have seen the Statue of Liberty. We were within sight of Ground Zero from Liberty Island! It was a pretty moving experience, especially after you spend a few hours on Ellis Island, inside the Immigration Museum. They present the story of people coming to America in a moving, and sometimes stark, way. Very interesting.

I often wonder if there is a different perspective on America between people that choose to leave their homelands and move here, to those, like me, that were born here. Especially ones with a long family history in this country?

One part of our vacation I didn't mention was a day spent in Watertown, Mass. (It's now a suburb of Boston) My ancestors, on my mother's side, (Family name: Stone) came here to Mass. in 1636. We found a couple of cemetaries with many very old Stone family graves.

It was a very moving experience for me to stand there among my ancestors graves in that very old cemetary. Some that died in 1650 or so, but several lived through the Revolutionary War years, and were right in the thick of the war zones.

They were British citizens that rebelled against their homeland, and went through the severe growing pains this country experienced in it's early years as a new country. I can't imagine what that must have been like.

Places like that really make you think.

                Brian,

I hope you and Angie will have a chance to visit out east, too. If you are interested in American History at all, there's so much out there to see, it's nearly overwhelming.

Even during the Hot Rod Power Tour, we took one day to visit Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's home) near Charlottsville, VA. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

                      Thanks for the compliments, Angie!

That jumping Humpback whale photo was one of those "one in a thousand" kind of photos. The scientists on our cruise said it was a "baby", about 7 months old. It was swimming along with it's mother, and jumped, or breached (technical term) about 7 or 8 times. I got it partially out of the water on a couple of other times, but only got one shot like that one. I was thrilled whan I reviewed my pics!

They also said the see breaching whales about once every two or three weeks. This baby really put on a show for us! It was very cool.

It was funny, as soon as we came up on the mother and baby whale (who were just swimming along) the baby started to circle the boat (boat stopped) and going under the boat. It was like the baby was "people watching"! Then all of a sudden, the baby started jumping. Everyone on the boad went crazy, whooping and Oooing. It was pretty cool. .... And ya, Bre liked it too.
