First, I want to thank every one of you for your positive thoughts, prayers and support. It means so very much to me and our family.

They finally got Anita down to surgery about 5:30pm. The docs say everything went as good as they expected, no complications or surprises. She lost very little blood. They said this kidney (her left one) looked bad and it was the correct thing to do to get it removed. They expect the antibiotics to be able to work now with it out of there. She is still sedated and on a respirator. They expect to keep her that way for a couple of more days yet, giving her a chance to start healing before they "wake" her up.

She went in with some sort of intestinal issues and then this kidney infection sort of took over. They sedated her before they made the decision to remove her kidney, so she'll wake up not knowing she is missing a kidney! That should prove to be an interesting conversation between me and her when I tell her what's been happening these last couple of days! They said that without doing this, she would probably had no chance for recovery. So, adjusting to having one kidney and all the restrictions that will come with that, is better than the alternative.

Again, thanks everyone for your support.
RIP Doug,You will always be remembered
