  • New license plate time of year.......

With my B-day looming just days away, it's that time of year to renew the plates on all our vehicles again. I've had personalized plates for my Camaros since 1975, and got them for each new Camaro when bought them after that.

I was one that really liked the old classic Blue Michigan plate, but of course, we had to change those last year. I didn't like the new multi-colored plate so I went with the plain white plate. Those were ok, but I thought they still needed a little more color. So, this year I switched all the Camaro plates over the the Michigan, USA plate. They came in the mail today.

Now we just need some nice weather so I can drive them around.

Very cool but I thought that 3rd gen and 96 just sit there? Do you even drive them?

Well, the '85 IROC-Z and the '96 SS have been in storage since we started the Project DZ74 to make room in my garage. I still have to renew them each year to keep those plates, even if I don't drive them. I've had these plates (what they say) since the cars were new.

Hopefully the Project will be done this spring/summer and the "MY Z" plate will get some use. I would also like to get (at least) the '96 SS out this year. If that works out, I would like to drive it to the Meet & Greet. Of course, the Hot Rod Edition is very hard to ignore, so I'm sure that will see some miles.

But, I don't have any issues with them being tucked away nicely waiting their turn.

Nice looking plates. And I'm with you on the color schemes...I much preferred the old blue plates too. Had to renew mine in Jan. and went with the plain blue and white.

Doug I see you managed to get "WMCC" instead of "WMCC 1" this year for the Hot Rod.

YES! I was wondering if WMCC had become available, so I checked the Sec of State website and saw that it was. I still wonder who had WMCC before, and what it stood for??????????

Oh Well, they'll never get it again! LOL

That's why I renew them every year, even if I don't drive the car. I've renewed the "MY Z" plate for the '74 Z for 22 years while it was off the road. Sounds grazy, but at least nobody else could take my plate.

Ya, it's kind of expensive, but when you divide it between 4 cars, it's not so bad. Besides, unlike wheels, for instance, I'm positive there won't be another one like these anywhere else in the whole State. Very cheap to be unique, if you look at it that way.
