  • WMCC Hot Rod Fall Color Tour - pics

This past weekend, several members of WMCC enjoyed the beautiful scenery and comradery of our 7th Annual WMCC Hot Rod Fall Color Tour in the greater Traverse City area of Mighigan.

We left Muskegon after breakfast on Friday morning and made our way north through the beautiful back country roads of western Michigan. Our home base for the weekend was the Red Lion Motor Lodge just south of Suttons Bay.

We had 21 members go on the weekend trip with 11 Camaros. There were several "first timers" along who had a wonderful time. We had a little rain, off and on, Friday, but Saturday and Sunday were fantastic. Temps were in the 40's in the mornings and warmed to the mid 60's in the afternoons.

In spite of the cool temps, those with convertibles had the tops down (and the heaters full blast) a few times. In the evenings, we sat around a big camp fire and in the mornings we cooked breakfast on the patio of one of the rooms.

As always, the scenery in this area is absolutely stunning. A great time was had by all.

Hey Tom, was it nice up there this weekend, or what!

We spent most of the time out in the country NW of Traverse City hitting the curvy back roads and scenic lake areas. Oh, and a couple of wineries, too! We only went into TC proper on Sunday morning when we went through on our way out to Old Mission Point. We also stopped at Mable's Restaurant for lunch on Sunday. Mmmm good!

David, many of us have more than one generation of camaro. In years past we have had wind, rain, cold, sleet and even snow on this trip. Not to mention this "tour" is about 1000 miles total in the course of the weekend. When I am 300 miles from home and it is cold, wet and slippery I would much rather be in our 27mpg '01SS than in our 12mpg '73Z.

A couple years ago we made it manditory that if you had a non 4th gen you had to drive it that year Most of us guys would love to do that again but the wives said NEVER AGAIN. It pays to keep momma happy
